Prof. B. Ramesh, devour a rich experience in the field of academia. Serving for almost 37 years, as a Founding faculty in Commerece and Management at post graduate level in the state university teaching courses like M. Com, MBA (Financial Services), MCA &M.Phil. Also served as HOD & Chairman, Board of Studies in Commerce for 15 years also Dean, Faculty of Commerce for 6 years at Goa State University (1987-2021). Prior to this he served in North Eatser Region of Mizoram, Assam and Manipur States. His leadership is celebrated for initiating innovative programmes, pedagogies and corporate internships at Goa University. A significant contribution is the initiative of launching the MBA (Financial Services) course as a successful self-financing programme in January, 2000 which today emerged as a full fledged discipline in Goa Business School which was approved and sanctioned recently faculty positions by Goa Govt in the A.Y. 2020-21.
A Total of 17 doctoral works (Ph.D.’s) till date have been guided in the areas of Accounting, Finance, Investments, Entrepreneurship, Corporate governance and portfolio management. Adjudicated more than 150 Ph.D. thesis from various universities in India, of which for more than 70 Ph.D.’s Viva-Voce examinations was also conducted. Worked with UGC, SBI, SIDBI and Industries for various research projects. Currently, working in the Editorial Boards of 10 reputed research journals in the country. Publications of more than 100 research papers in distinguished and reputed journals at national and international level including scopus journals. In addition to research publications, a total of 4 books based on the doctoral works guided have been published by reputed publication houses.
Worked closely with various Government and Corporate bodies like CBDT, SIDBI, SBIGoa, Central Excise Department, Goa Chamber of Commerce, Goa Small Industry Association, CII(Goa) to name few. A number of research projects and sponsored training programs and workshops have been conducted during the association. Also, conducted up to 25 refresher programmes sponsored by UGC (of 21 days’ duration each) under the Academic Staff colleges, Goa University, training more than 1500 senior academicians in commerce & management. Tie-ups for corporate internship programmes for 1 semester duration to the ongoing MBA(FS) course with institutions like BSE, NSE, MCX, NCDX, Mutual fund companies, Banks and other financial institutions established. Organised online interactive session with alumni of MBA (Financial Services) working in India and abroad with the current batch of MBA students and faculties.
Served as President of Indian Accounting Association (IAA) – 1999 – 2000, President of Indian Commerece Association (ICA) – 2011 – 2012 and on the board of Association of Indian Management School (AIMS) – 2015- 2021 as a Co-Opted member. Worked with UGC, AICTE, NAAC and other bodies as an expert in various committees. Also Associated with several other International and National Associations. Organized and directed morethan 80 workshops, conferences of National and International and FDPs. Organized Vice Chancellors conference on NEP – 2020 involving morethan 16 Vice Chancellors all over the country.
During his tenure of service as the Head of the Department of Commerce and Management studies and as the Dean Faculty of Commerce for 6 years at Goa University, he was involved in various administrative responsibilities like: Restructuring of M. Com & MBA (Financial Services) curriculum with innovative pedagogies from time to time. Pioneered in designating the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) for M.Com and MBA(FS) courses offered at Goa University and Affiliated Colleges. Served as Chairman of BOS for MBA and BBA (Financial Services) of Goa Business School, Goa University till his superannuation in May 2021. Served on Selction Committes, Finance Committe of Goa University, Industry and Institutional Collabrations.
